To start a perfect dinner with Diana at one of our favorite spots in the Hudson Valley, I had their “Dorato Negroni”
Served over a large ice cube with an orange peel, it has a beautiful golden color that suits its name: dorato means golden in Italian.
The mixologist of this beauty combined Armonico mango gin, Lillet Blanc, Suze, and Heirloom Crème de Flora.
The familiar White Negroni ingredients are there, but the mango gin and floral liqueur take it in an even sweeter, more perfumed direction.
Crème de Flora is inspired by Italian millefiori—“a thousand flowers”—liqueurs, with a blend of flowers including marigold and chamomile.
The sweetness and floral character led the way. An intriguing variation on the White Negroni, and another example of how much room there is to explore within this deceptively simple cocktail.
A bit over the top for me for me, yet I will say very well crafted.
