Negroni # 104 Barrel Aged Negroni – Bird & Bottle, Garrison NY

One of our favorite spots in Garrison, the Bird & Bottle Inn. We are bar peeps and love the warm bar here, especially in the colder months, where the cocktails are as thoughtful as the food is great. It’s become one of our favorite spots to bring friends for drinks and bites. Everyone leaves talking about when they’ll come back.

On one visit, the Negroni was the star of the evening. Not just any Negroni, but a well crafted barrel-aged Negroni.

The Warwick, Hudson Valley distiller, gin brings structure, the Cappelletti and Campari blen gives a softer but noted bitter-orange punch, and the Carpano Antica formula Vermouth adds depth with its rich, herbal sweetness. After a few weeks in oak, the drink picks up round vanilla notes and a mellow finish. It’s still a Negroni, but one with deeper dimensions.

Recipe – Barrel-Aged Negroni

  • 1 part Warwick Gin
  • 1 part Cappelletti Aperitivo (or Campari)
  • 1 part Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth

Combine in a small oak barrel and age 4–6 weeks. Serve over a big cube with an orange peel.

Simple, classic, and just a little elevated — like Bird & Bottle itself.
