Negroni # 23 “Negroni-Inspired Granita” by Kate on Gin… and T’ing

Not a Negroni Cocktail but Irresistable Nevertheless. Kate, a writer, sought to overcome her aversion to Campari, it is certainly an acquired taste. There was a time I found great displeasure in the stuff myself.

So she created something that looks quite delicious, we just had to share this recipe,.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Campari
  • 6 oz Gin
  • 6 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 6 oz Orange juice
  • 6 oz Cherry juice
  • 1/8 cup Super fine sugar
  • Zest of half an orange
  • Orange peel, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the orange juice, cherry juice, Campari, gin, sweet vermouth, super fine sugar, and orange zest until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Pour the mixture into a shallow baking pan and place it in the freezer for two hours.
  3. Remove the pan from the freezer. Use a fork to scrape across the frozen mixture, creating icy flakes.
  4. Return the pan to the freezer and repeat the scraping process two more times, for a total freezing time of six hours.
  5. After the third scrape, scoop the granita into coupes or old-fashioned glasses.
  6. Garnish with an orange peel and serve immediately
