Negroni # 25 – For a Party of Many

Planning a Party? Negronis Can be Made by the Pitcher.

The Gin: Beafeater

The Vermouth: Martini Rosso

The Amaro:  Campari

More: Orange Slices

One of the great virtues of the Negroni is its simplicity: equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth. That balance makes it just as easy to prepare for a crowd as it is for one. Why shake and stir all night when you can set a pitcher on the table and join the party?

Ingredients (Makes about 8 servings)

  • 1 cup (8 oz) gin
  • 1 cup (8 oz) Campari
  • 1 cup (8 oz) sweet vermouth (Carpano Antica, Cocchi, or your favorite)
  • Orange slices or peels for garnish
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Combine in advance: In a large pitcher, stir together the gin, Campari, and vermouth. Keep the pitcher chilled in the fridge until party time.
  2. To serve: Fill old-fashioned glasses with fresh ice, pour in the mixture, and garnish with an orange slice or twist.
  3. Optional fizz: For a lighter, more sessionable option, top each glass with a splash of sparkling water or Prosecco.

Party Commentary

A pitcher of Negronis is a signal to your guests: this is not a tentative gathering. This is convivial, bold, and unapologetically Italian. The jewel-red glow in the pitcher looks almost ceremonial — and when you pour it over clinking ice, conversation seems to quicken.

The great thing? With the math already done (equal parts, always), you’re free to mingle, laugh, and tell stories instead of playing bartender all night. And don’t be surprised if your guests start quoting Orson Welles: “The bitters are good for your liver…”

Negronis by the pitcher turn a cocktail into an event.
